Project Overview

Allied health assistants play a key role in delivering allied health services to the SA community.  As demand for allied health services continues to rise with an ageing population, allied health assistants have the potential to increase capacity and/or flexibility within allied health teams.

The Allied Health Workforce Reform Project aims to explore and promote the use of the allied health assistant role in SA within the broader context of national and international workforce reform initatives.  In addition, the project aims to work towards creating a common framework for the role across organisations in SA.

Commencing in February 2008, the project is a collaborative initiative involving several government and non-government organisations in the health & community services sector in South Australia.

The project runs until the end of November 2009.
