Industry Skills Board - 2007 Workforce Planning

Projects >> Industry Skills Board - 2007 Workforce Planning

All nine South Australian Industry Skills Boards have combined to undertake a project to identify major industrial developments planned for 2007 and to report on the direct workforce requirements and their impacts on other sectors.

This project found its genesis with the involvement of the Food Tourism & Hospitality Skills Board (FTH) in the Primo meat processing development at Port Wakefield. Primo’s workforce requirements included a need to transport workers, as there were not enough local employees or housing for new employees. FTH were able to bring together state and federal government departments, job network providers with Primo’s management in a model that successfully assisted in the formation of a new workforce. It is hoped that the project will assist government and industry work more closely to enhance business, employment and prosperity in South Australia.

The Australian Institute of the Social Research have been appointed to conduct the research. This project is funded by the South Australian Industry Skills Board’s and DFEEST through the Workforce Development Fund.
