Youth Workers
Projects >> Youth Workers
The Youth Affairs Council of SA (YACSA) identified through their Youth Services Forum of major service providers that there is problem with early stage retention of new youth workers. This appears to be a combination of new employees in the sector being perceived as not work ready and that transition to work practices by providers are inadequate.
This project will identify the specific needs for improved retention of new Youth Workers and will develop resources and training to improve transition from training to work of new Youth Workers.
The Project will be hosted by the SA Health and Community Services Skills Board withYACSA appointed to conduct industry consultation, develop resources & conduct training.
The project is guided by an Industry Reference Group (IRG) consisting of relevant organisations and new Youth Workers who have a vested interest in improving the retention rates of new workers in the sector. The IRG have informed the process and validate the findings.
The project is due for completion in March 2007.
