HLT07 Training Package: new components endorsed
The Community Services and Health Industry Skills Council have released details of new components of the HLT07 Training package which were recently endorsed.
The two specific areas endorsed are
- Allied Health Assistance - Community Rehabilitation
- Renal Care

Call for Abstracts: Future Proofing the Aged and Community Care Workforce
Change Champions are hosting a toolkit seminar, Future Proofing the Aged & Community Workforce, on 25-26 May 2010 and are inviting your participation by submitting an abstract to present at the seminar.
The seminar aims to
- highlight practical strategies to ensure the viability and sustainability of the aged and community care workforce into the future
- showcase innovative projects in aged, community care and educational settings
- showcase successful quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

DTED Employer resource kit available
The Department of Trade and Economic Development (DTED), with the support of the Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology, the Office for the Ageing and SafeWork SA, has developed an Employer Resource Kit which provides a flexible set of tools to helps employers to recruit, develop, retain and manage staff.
The toolkit is heavily based on the South Australian Government's Building Business Capability in Workforce Development program, which aims to encourage and support employers to develop workforce plans to support their business planning to be both productive and profitable.
The pack contains information cards, a workforce planning guide and a CD containing simple but effective templates and an example case study, which will provide an insight into the planning required to ensure you can address future staffing needs.

VET in SACE: Navigating the Maze Forum
The SA Health & Community Services Skills Board, in collaboration with National Disability Services, Aged & Community Services SA&NT, the Department of Education and Children's Services, SA Health and Business SA will be hosting a forum to navigate the maze of VET in the Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (SACE). Aimed at HR managers and personnel from aged care, disability and health services the forum will give attendees an opportunity to get an overview of SACE and how to connect with schools and young people.

NCVER study- Employers views on improving the VET system
This study examines employers' views, taken from the NCVER Survey of Employer Use and Views on the VET system, on the three ways they can engage with the VET system: by having vocational qualifications as a job requirement; employing apprentices and trainees; and using nationally recognised training. In particular, the authors focus on employers' suggestions for improvement to the VET system and, for those employers who are dissatisfied with the system, their reasons for dissastisfaction.
