Training and Skills Commission: Skills for Jobs: Priorities for Developing South Australia's Workforce
The Training and Skills Commission has developed its first Five Year Plan for Skills and Workforce Development, Skills for Jobs, which is a key element of the State Government’s Skills Strategy for South Australia’s Future, announced in 2008.

Productivity Places Program for Existing Workers
The next round of applications for the Productivity Places Program for Existing Workers is likely to open in July 2009. It is expected that applications will be open for about a month. The SA Health & Community Services Skills Board will again provide letters of support where applicable.

Health Workforce Australia Bill 2009
In November 2008 the Commonwealth agreed to establish a new health workforce agency. The Health Workforce Australia Bill 2009 seeks to implement that commitment and will establish Health Workforce Australia (HWA) as an independent statutory body. It's functions will include, amongst others, funding, planning and coordinating clinical training, supporting clinical training supervision and health workforce research and planning, and providing advice to Health Ministers.
The Health Workforce Australia Bill 2009 is before Parliament and a Senate inquiry is being conducted into it.

NCVER: Workforce planning for the community services and health industry
The National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) has released a paper which aims to provide a picture of the occupations in the community services and health industry, and how the workforce obtains the required skills. The findings suggest that the qualificaton levels of community services and health workers have increased substantially over the past decade. Furthermore, community services and health vocational education and training courses are well targeted, with most graduates finding employment in the industry.

The Australian Council of Social Service has released the 2009 Australian Community Sector Survey. The survey covers the financial year 2007-08 and provides information on service use, income, expenditure and workforce issues for the community services and welfare sector.
