Bernard Meatheringham elected Chairperson

Following the appointment of the Board at the 2006 AGM Bernard Meatheringham (Dept of Correctional Services) was elected as Chairperson unopposed. Bernard will be supported by Rob Bonner (ANF) as the Deputy Chairperson and Gayle Peak (PSA) as Treasurer.

New Board Members Appointed

Three new Board members Tony Snelson (LHMU), Katrine Hildyard (ASU) and Jennifer Duncan (SACOSS) joined the Board at the 2006 AGM. Two former members, Rob Bonner (ANF) and Tarnya Cruickshank (Business SA) also returned to join the five re-elected members.

New Quality Arrangements for VET

The National Quality Council has been asked by COAG to develop new VET quality arrangements for standards of training outcomes that must be achieved by Registered Training Organisations. Workshops will be held on Wednesday 9 August at 9am and at 1pm to hear more about these arrangements and to provide feedback. To register to attend contact Tonia Higgins at DFEEST

Mining & Defence to impact on health & community services sector

Minister for Employment, Training & Further Education, Paul Caica, announced recently that three strategic clusters of existing industry skills board would be provided with an extra $150,000 to look at the workforce development issues arising from the mining and defence developments in SA.
