Evaluation of Industry Skills Boards in South Australia

The network of Industry Skills Boards (ISB) in South Australia is being evaluated. The Evaluation will address three terms of reference:

1.  Appropriateness
To evaluate the extent to which the current roles, responsibilities, structure and composition of ISBs are appropriate to the skills and workforce development needs of SA and the SA Government within the context of the national skills and workforce development system.  Recommend any changes that may be appropriate to improve the role played by ISBs within the state and national policy context.

2.  Effectiveness
To evaluate the extent to which individual ISBs are achieving their roles and responsibilities as specified in the ISB Funding Deed (2008) and recommend any changes that may need to be made to improve the capacity of ISBs to achieve the current and expected future role.

3.  Efficiency
To evaluate the extent to which the allocation of financial and non-financial resources to ISBs has been successful in meeting the skills and workforce development priorities of the SA Government.

A Steering Committee has been established to undertake the Evaluation.  Its Members are:

  • Mr Dennis Mutton (Independent Chair) - nominee of the Minister for Employment, Training and Further Education
  • Mr Adrian Smith - nominee of the Training and Skills Commission (TaSC)
  • Dr Craig Fowler - nominee of DFEEST

The Steering Committee is interested to receive submissions from any stakeholders with an interest in the work of Industry Skills Boards.
