Work Effectively with Therapy Assistants - Thursday, 25th February 2010, 1:00pm - 4:30pm at Next Generation Memorial Drive


Why attend?
The growth in interest in the use of allied health assistants in the Australian workforce has resulted in therapists and employers asking, "What can therapy assistants do?" and "How can they do it?"
The course will provide some practical guidelines and resources to assist with therapy assistant position design.  Additionally, it will cover models of service delivery and strategies for working effectively with therapy assistants across a range of workplace settings.

Who will be the facilitator?
The course will be delivered by Sue Steele-Smith, BApScience (Occupational Therapy), Master of Health Science Education.  Sue is an experienced practitioner and educator who is currently working as an Education Consultant at the Royal Rehabilitation College, NSW.

What will I learn?

How to design new therapy assistant positions
. How to design a model of service delivery that is appropriate to your workplace
. Understand therapy assistant roles
. How to work effectively with therapy assistants
. How the Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance can help
. How other therapists work with assistants.

Who should attend?
Anyone in a supervisory position who is interested in working more effectively with therapy assistants, or wants to create new therapy assistant positions, or is recruiting for therapy assistant positions.

The course will be held on Thursday 25th February 2010, 1:00pm - 4:30pm at the Next Generation Memorial Drive, War Memorial Drive, North Adelaide  SA 5006
